Chip will not be employed during the estimated four weeks of his journey. His expenses will be minimal but all donations will be graciously accepted & appreciated. Consider it a graduation gift!
He anticipates “stealth” camping during the journey and not paying for accommodations. However, he will need some cash for the road for meals and showers, and emergency money.

Chip still needs to obtain the following to prepare for a successful & safe journey:
- a CamelBak backpack, ideally a lightweight one that has 50-100 oz. capacity. The Camelbak will help Chip stay hydrated “on the road” & would be awesome for him to use.
- granola bars, non-perishable & high-calorie foods (i.e. trail mix, power bars, etc)
- weather ponchos would help Chip stay dry & comfortable
- SOLAR powered iPod charger would help Chip jam to his favorite tunes. He will be out in the open for the duration of his travels and will not be able to use electricity. Whoever donates Chip this item will receive a free MIX CD of Chip’s top fav 22 songs on the go.
- Energizer battery-powered cell phone charger would help Chip contact his family and friends to let us know where he is & that he is safe & help update the blog!
- windsmock – this prolite gear windbreaker/smock would be essential for Chip to stay comfortable
- bicycle tools
- a hammock, small enough to travel with
- weather-proof matches / lighter fluid
- size 13 hiking boots-
- thick socks (size 13 shoe)
- Bicycling Magazine
A PayPal account has been set up for monetary donations -> chipstravels@gmail.com ON PayPal. To send donations, Chip’s home address in Flagstaff, Ariz. will be provided upon request. He will be in Flagstaff with an address only until May 30, 2009.
All sponsors of Chip’s travels will receive a CHIP’S travels t-shirt OR Nalgene bottle (COMING SOON!)
Chip GREATLY appreciates all viewers of his CHIP’S travels blog & supporters.

Why do you need hiking boots for a bike trip? Just curious.
